St. Mark’s Community Library, St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral, Minneapolis, MN                March 2019 – Present

Librarian

  • Plan, implement, and perform all collection maintenance and development strategies, including liaising with cathedral ministry staff to determine best books to support programming initiatives, and staying abreast of both secular and Christian children, teen, and adult fiction and nonfiction trends.

  • Develop a digital presence by introducing and marketing an online catalog, library website, subject guides, and outreach via social media initiatives.

  • Staff library by maintaining all systems, working with patrons on research questions and helping them find their desired materials.

  • Recruit library volunteers and maintain a volunteer schedule.

Champaign Public Library, Champaign, IL                                                                October 2017 – December 2018

Program and Event Specialist Librarian

  • Brainstormed, coordinated, executed, and assessed all Adult Services programming initiatives such as author visits, series, and big, one-off events; coordinated 60 events in 2018.

  • Collaborated with Children's Services department to design and coordinate large interdepartmental events such as our annual summer reading kick off, Free Comic Book Day, and International Games Day.

  • Promoted library programs through TV, radio, and newspaper interviews. Completed 4, in-person interviews for local media sources in 2018.

  • Built partnerships with community organizations to enhance access and adult programming at the library.

  • Managed the rotation and themes of multiple, weekly book displays to correspond with cultural events and library programming.

  • Staffed the Information Desk by answering reference, technology, business, and library material questions by phone, email, chat, and in person.

Graduate Assistant

  • Co-organized, planned, and provided day-of assistance with outreach and programming; lead library tours and student library orientations by showing incoming graduate students where to find library materials, how to use technical amenities, providing overview of digital resources, and instructing students how to effectively use the library's catalog and find online materials. 

  • Helped students and faculty with reference questions, finding library materials or specialized art information and with troubleshooting library's scanners, computers, and printers.

  • Assisted with development of collection and online resources by coordinating with vendors and art librarians to place monograph, special, or electronic resource orders, and composed Research Guides that correspond to the school's architecture and art courses as well as for all exhibitions at the Krannert Art Museum.

Co-Chair, Museums, Arts, and Humanities Division (MAHD)

  • Developed, planned, coordinated, promoted, executed, and assessed programming that explores the issues facing art libraries and how the arts can be incorporated in public library settings.

  • Worked with president to restructure Special Library Association Student Chapter to incorporate divisions, including MAHD, with goal of building a strong, interdisciplinary student group.

Practicum

  • Assisted and advised patrons with their use of library materials including books, movies, music, media, and electronic resources and helped patrons troubleshoot both library and personal computer and other media as well as navigate online library resources such as My Media Mall, Cloud Library, Hoopla, and RBdigital Magazines

  • Helped with collection duties such as development and maintenance, pulling Best Bets and marking them as “on display” in Polaris, and readying new magazine subscriptions for the floor.

  • Assisted Programming Committee with the booking of non-musical talent and managing musical entertainment at the Food Truck Rally and staffed other library events and lectures as needed.

Events and Promotions Office Intern

  • Helped develop, plan, coordinate, promote, execute, and assess large-scale, interdepartmental events including National Library Week festivities, Summer Reading Blast Off, the NASA Space Exhibition, and the reoccurring Art Connection: Schools to Library Opening Receptions.

  • Implemented the use of Google Sheets to facilitate communication between team members concerning the event’s day-of and planning schedules in a collaborative format.

  • Point of Contact for each event: ensured event spaces were correctly set up, giveaways and resources were available to patrons and staff throughout the event, managed all talent and volunteers day-of, answered questions about the event or upcoming library events as needed.
